Conceptual flat-pack furniture highlighting tension. The webbing that opposes the two turnbuckles on the bottom is used for lifting locomotives and can hold 89,000 LBS. The whole piece was laser cut and can be assembled in 5 minutes. Because the bench top is near straight when it is sat on, then force this bench developer is quite huge. WIth a few hundred pounds of people sitting on it, the force exerted on the turn buckles is multiplied hugely. I havnt’t measured it, but luckily as the structure flexes the forces decrease quickly which keeps the bench from pulling itself apart.
